Alberta Growing Greenhouses Program

The Growing Greenhouses Program is an Alberta government funding initiative under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership. The program supports the expansion of controlled environment agriculture (CEA) by funding new greenhouses and vertical farms, as well as projects that increase the productivity of existing operations.

The objective is to strengthen Alberta’s food security by enabling year-round, locally grown food production through high-efficiency technologies, automation, and energy-saving infrastructure.

The time to act is now! Given the highly competitive nature of this program, it’s important to start the application quickly to build a comprehensive proposal and apply before funds run out.

Eligible activities

Funding supports the purchase, installation, and commissioning of high-efficiency technologies, including:

• Renewable & efficient energy systems
• Advanced lighting systems
• Energy-saving construction technologies
• Automation & robotics
• Engineering & installation services
• Training support related to new equipment and technologies

Eligible applicants

Eligible applicants must:

• Own and operate a greenhouse or vertical farm in Alberta, or
• Intend to own and operate a greenhouse or vertical farm constructed as part of the proposed project
