The AgriScience Program aims to accelerate innovation by providing funding and support for pre-commercial science activities and research that benefits the agriculture and agri-food sector and Canadians.
The current application deadline is ongoing, but activities and costs incurred before or after these dates are ineligible:
- Project start: Upon confirmation of complete submission
- Project end: March 31, 2028
Program Funding Amount
Up to 50% of costs provided by AAFC to a maximum of:
- $5 million for a single project
- $10 million per organization (across multiple projects)
Eligible Applicants
Agricultural organizations, or organizations that work closely with the agricultural sector:
- For-profit organizations
- Non-profit organizations, including associations and co-operatives
- Indigenous individuals and Indigenous organizations
Program Objectives
Project activities must align with a minimum of one priority area:
- GHG Emission reductions and climate change adaptation
- Economic growth and development of Canada’s agricultural sector
- Sector resilience, including animal and plant health
Eligible Projects
Pre-commercial R&D activities: the technology readiness level (TRL) must fall in the development phase, between 4 to 7, from validation in a lab environment to prototype ready for demonstration
- Program management and administration salaries
- Contracted services
- Capital assets required for R&D activities
- Materials & supplies
