The Kosher and Halal Investment Program provides funding to Canadian red meat (beef and veal) slaughter establishments to enhance their kosher and halal slaughter capabilities. The program helps improve production efficiency and market access for kosher and halal certified meats.

 Intake Period: Currently open. First come, first served

Funding Amount

• The program covers 50% of eligible costs.
• Maximum funding per project is up to $2 million over 2 years (projects must be completed March 31, 2027)

Kosher and Halal Investment Program funding eligibility:

• Businesses federally licensed as a Canadian beef or veal slaughter establishments (CFIA meat slaughter license)
• Establishments must have an existing Kosher/halal certification or readiness documentation

Objectives of the Kosher and Halal Investment Program

• Support the red meat sector in addressing kosher and halal production challenges.
• Improve production efficiency for kosher and halal red meat.
• Expand their market access, enhance production processes, and better serve the Canadian kosher and halal meat markets.

Eligible Costs

• Third-party professional expertise (productivity audit)
• Equipment: handling, stunning, slaughtering, conveyance, dismembering, deboning, scales, cutting.
• Technology: production line improvements and assessment tools.
• Storage: cooler upgrades, building expansion or modification.

• Financial statements (annual and interim)
• CFIA meat slaughter license
• Kosher/halal certification (or readiness documentation)
• Secured permits for construction or renovations
