Gambrinus partnered with Ayming to produce their first SR&ED claim. Gambrinus’ projects were very innovative, but because they contained technological advancements embedded in process improvements, the innovative aspects were a little more challenging to articulate within the “scientific-method” context favoured by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
As is often the case with first-time claimants in BC, the claim was selected for a CRA scientific audit a few months after filing. By carefully coaching the company before the audit and efficiently collaborating with the CRA during the audit, Ayming ensured that Gambrinus Malting could explain their projects in a way the auditor could relate to within the rules of the SR&ED program. That approach resulted in an efficient audit process for all parties.
